Bendigo’s Best Creatives…
Caleb Maxwell is no stranger around Emporium Creative Hub. As an OG resident in the space, Caleb and his team from Hebron Films help regional businesses create strategic online video that motivates and engages their customers. As a creative entrepreneur, Caleb spends his time building a thriving community-minded business, contributing to Bendigo’s local creative industries and connecting with other talented creatives.
Caleb’s love for building and working in the community has led him to serve in many different organizations, including the Army Reserves, Southern Cross Kids Camps and Creek Street Church. He’s also a member of the local advisory group for the City of Greater Bendigo’s Creative Industries Strategy AND is an invaluable member of the Emporium Creative Hub advisory group.
You can often find Caleb getting the Emporium CreativeHub community excited about the lunch time table tennis competition or after work board games when he is not forging ahead and championing regional creative industries and local business.
Describe yourself in 10 words or less:
I'm a passionate, people-loving filmmaker and entrepreneur.
Who are your creative influences?
Chris Do (The Futur), Ryan Reynolds, Donald Miller
What does a typical work day look like?
My days can vary quite a lot, especially when I'm on a shoot but a standard office day looks like coffee and a laugh at Mister Grimbsy or Tageskarte, into the Emporium Creative Hub, lunch at Gaijin, a few team and client meetings and a workout after or before all that if I can fit it in. After work I'm either working at Reserves, hanging with friends or spending some QT with Sammy.
What is the thing you like most about your job?
I love being of value to people. It's an honour to help my team be the best they can be and I absolutely LOVE working with great people.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
I have received a LOT of amazing advice over the years so I don't know this is 'the best of the lot' but it's certainly something that's been helpful - 'Don't let someone else's important become your urgent.' That's been really helpful for me because I have a tendency to say yes to too many things.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your career?
I'm most proud of building Hebron Films to where it is now. I've got a highly effective team, we've got an empowering culture and we get to have a big impact on our clients.
What are you working on at the moment?
We're working on some fun video content for a whole range of clients at the moment. Some of my favourites are Sculptform, Deepcore, Bike Bendigo, Dogs Connect and the Bendigo Mountain Bike Club
What advice would you give to a young person who is interested in a career in the creative industries?
You future is completely in your hands. Depending on the area of the creative industries you want to join, you may need to walk the road less traveled to get there but don't give up or compromise. You can do anything you put your mind to.
What’s your superpower?
Communicating with people. I love creating an atmosphere where people feel like they can be themselves.
On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
Hanging with my Church family at Creek Street Church
