Work Experience Gallery
Olivia Furs, year 10 Victory Christian College
Animation, video, social media posts 2023
Olivia developed a unique animated project to showcase the office environment during her week with us at Emporium.
One of her favourite things about the office was the break out spaces our tenants can use to meet and work, the couches feature in her short animation.
Olivia had the opportunity to talk with some of the creatives working in our space and they took some time to help her with the her project, providing some tips, tricks and feedback about she could develop her idea.
We love the twist Olivia has used with her ‘creative’ characters the caption she came up with to accompany this video was:
“Join the creativity at Emporium Creative Hub!”

Work experience at the Emporium has been extremely good and fun, the office space is clean and orderly, the desk is clear and big, the people are friendly and nice, and I got to help with and audio book.
Overall the Emporium has been a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend it to any other students or people looking to do work experience in the media industry, you learn assets that can help with future work like, editing videos and filming you can also learn how to animate with enough work and time. I thought that this place would just give us grunt work like copying files down but they gave us an interesting and fun plan for work experience making it a memorable week with them.

Animation, photography, video, social media posts 2022
Tahlia and Fresa came into the Hub and worked as a team together with The KH Studio. They were given a brief and asked to create some engaging content to feature across our social media platforms.
We were blown away by their creativity and skill in merging, illustration, animation, photography and video to capture some of the fun elements of our creative office space.

We were lucky enough to have Catherine Dorer a Year 10 work experience student from Bendigo South East College join us for a week in August 2022. The budding animator completed some excellent work during her stay including this wonderful piece ‘Firefly Forest’.

“I really enjoyed my work experience at the emporium creative hub. The people here are really nice, and it is just generally a really nice environment to work. The break room is also really nice, and it has a table tennis table which is pretty cool. It was really fun to spend my time working on creating my advertisement as well as my Instagram thing. The only issue I really had was the fact that sometimes I would have nothing to do, and it would be quite boring just sitting around doing nothing. But I do not often have that problem except for the first day. As I said before the people here are really nice which makes it a very nice environment to be in. It is also just a nice environment because the office has a very good design that looks very good and welcoming. When I was here, I spent my time creating an advertisement for the emporium which they are going to put on their socials. I also spent a little bit of my time creating a few short reels that is going to be put on their Instagram. Overall I really enjoyed my time here as it was fun and just a nice break from school.”
Thomas Sparrow, Catherine McAuley College
Creative writing and journalism 2022
Hi, I am Thomas Sparrow, I’m in Year 10 from Catherine McAuley College and something the school recommended for us to do was to go on Work Experience to see what it’s like to be in an actual job, helping others, doing your part. I have enjoyed writing since I was in primary school, I was writing up little stories in my book whenever I had the time and if my teacher allowed it. My handwriting was said to be one of the neatest for the Grade I was in (which at that time was Grade 1), so I figured, why not work at a place that specialises in writing? And so, we found Emporium Creative Hub, right here in the heart of Bendigo.
My school’s career practitioner suggested this place since it was made up of creative folks that enjoy creating media and marketing for the public to enjoy. In my recent teen years, I found the urge to tell people the truth, what’s what, things people might not even realise in the current day and age so, Emporium Creative seemed like the perfect space for me.
The office in which I worked wasn’t too bad, it had heating, plenty of light, a nice chair and my mangers weren’t too far away. Some things I learned when working with these people with such diverse minds was that you not only have to have a creative mind to help people, you also need creative peers to assist you. One thing I can take away from this experience is that while writing professional pieces, no matter kind they are, it’s not something you’ll typically make in one night, in order for the best output, feedback from your friends and/or family might make all the difference into the end quality of what you make.
